it is friday. almost the weekend. you are watching "fox & friends first" this friday morning. >> i am heather childers. thank you so much for starting your day with us. two of the u.s. olympic swimmers linked to the rio mugging scandal are heading back to the u.s. >> they boarded a flight bound for miami late last night after giving statements to police. >> they fil criminal charges against fellow teammates ryan lochte and feegan saying the robbery story is a lie. >> here's the headline this morning from the new york post. liar, liar, speedo on fire. the swimmer version of the story is a brand new story. jimmy fegan is giving a revised

statement to a judge in rio. they are showing video of swimmers at a gas station where the swimmers trashed the bathroom. gas station employees said they took down this door and vandalized this room inside. here are photos of a damaged sandwich sign which according to tmz caused the gas station owner to demand more than $400 in cash from the swimmers. you can see one appear to pull out his wallet and hand an employee money. one thing you don't see, any sort of firearm. all four are saying the gas station ended out 3 minutes of video that would have shown them being held at gun point. there is video of the athletes sitting on a curb some of them putting their hands up. lock tee shown pulling something out of his pocket and handing it to a man in black. the time line, the swimmers

started new surveillance images catching them around 5:45 even though they claim they were lle 4:00. they finally reached olympic village around 7:00 a.m. the swimmers say the video still backs up their story. but tmz's harvey levin says it's not that simple. >> ryan roclochte's problem i tk was a pretext of the whole thing was a lie. the preparticulatext they are d along a man thinks they are a police officer holds them up. the prosecutors could make the different argument. a brazilian judge has to stop the indictment or drop the case. lochte is not required to return to face charges. the max punishment for fegan

out the next dpu days. we have combust which winds in place yellow fire danger and warnings have been issued from california to washington state all of the way to oregon. that is something to watch out for. we expect the threat to remain elevated over the next several days. dry conditions, rainfall across new mexico, montana but no rain across parts of the west where we need the rain to help with the piled fire effort. middle 90's for a city like seattle. showers and storms across texas, louisiana and southeast. the forecast is for it to stay relatively light. >> 90's for seattle. that is unusual.

welcome back to "fox & friends first." back with this story. inches between life and death. watch as the bolt flies right in front of a teen girl's face as she tried to get off the bus. the teenager signals the driver. a bullet scratches right through the window. she ducks and shuffles away from the shattered window. a pilot ejects to safety moments before his fighter jet crashes into the ground. you can see the wreckage. just outside of nelles air force base in las vegas. he was forced to evacuate. you can see the thick black smoke from the crash billowing

into the sky. the pilot is not seriously injured. the cause of the crash still unknown. a heartwarming story for you after 25 years of service, a u.s. soldier finally gets the chance to meet the boy who wrote to her while she was over seas nearly a decade ago. >> my name is collin martin. i am in second grade. >> it was a simple letter written by a young boy to a soldier. he was in second grade when he wrote this letter to major charlene pigg who dropped by to speak to his class while on leave. he also included a coupon to his parents' pizza shop. major pigg was stationed in afghanistan. since then she's moved several times, kuwait, jacksonville and rose to the racibarskas of lieutenant colonel. through it all she hung on to this letter. now after 25 years of service she's about to retire, but she had one last duty, a personal one. >> i wanted to meet the boy
